Aberfoyle Park Kitchen

The brief required a redesign of a kitchen in the home of a Canadian family of four, residing permanently in Aberfoyle Park (Adelaide). The clients wanted the kitchen to be the heart of the home, where the family could congregate, connect and entertain.  They wanted a rustic homely feel, functionality and a butlers kitchen if space allowed.

My role was to redesign the kitchen space planning to accommodate for an island bench with good circulation and flow, as well as a butlers pantry.  The kitchen was previously being used as a place to work, so a study nook was also incorporated into the design as a bonus.

The design concept was inspired by their Canadian origin using the Rocky mountains as a source of inspiration.  The kitchen featured oak cabinetry, textured benchtops and a lined oak ceiling with overhead beams to anchor the space and make it feel intimate, Key features included a rustic beam built into the range-hood to add character and depth and black glass floor to ceiling doors in the pantry and storage cupboard to create symmetry and harmony.
